The Durango and Silverton Railroad runs from Durango to Silverton Colorado through some of the most beautiful country in Colorado. The train tracks follow the Animas River through deeply incised canyons in the rugged San Juan Range. The road bed was literally "blasted" out of sheer rock walls to produce a stretch known as the "Highline".
The Denver and Rio Grande and the Durango and Silverton Railroads provide challenge for serious photographers intent upon achieving those "hard to get" scenes.
