INTERpark's Colorado Plateau Pottery

INTERpark Inc., would like to introduce Colorado Plateau Pottery with Patricia Flint Lacey. Dr. Lacey presents a lecture which recounts some of the history of Colorado plateau pottery. She then steps you through the creation of a pot being made with the same technique that was used by the Ancestral Puebloans. The making of the Olla pot takes you from digging the clay, shaping the pot, painting and firing the pot. All of this is achieved through what scientist believe was the method used long ago. This educational demonstration is given by the late Lee Lacey. Many of his replications of Ancestral Pueblo pottery are curated at the Anasazi Heritage Center and used in interpretation. Firing of the pot takes place on Woods Mesa in the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument in Colorado, and is achieved in the historical method. Introduction is by Robert H. Lister Ph. D. .
